Town of Oliver Co-op Avenue Reconstruction Project Road Closures
Effective April 30, 2024 the Town of Oliver will commence the Co-op Avenue Reconstruction Project. It is anticipated that construction will be completed by September 30th. Additional updates will be communicated as they become available.
During this period, all segments of Co-op Avenue east of Main Street will be closed to public traffic, with the exception of access on Co-Op Avenue to the No Frills parking lot and the Chevron Station.
Construction activities will take place between 7:00am and 6:00pm Monday through Friday, with Saturday work from 9:00am to 5:00pm as needed. The closure status is expected to fluctuate depending on the stage of the work and the task. Local business traffic will have intermittent access and the public will have access before and after working hours whenever possible. However, there will be work occurring between mid-May and mid-July that will necessitate the road be closed 24 hours per day. Additional updates will be communicated as they are available.
The Co-Op Avenue reconstruction project will bring multifaceted benefits to our community including 230 meters of sidewalk to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility. Residents and visitors will also see a significant increase in parking options. A new three-way traffic stop at Co-op Avenue and Station Street will further bolster traffic management, reduce congestion and potential accidents.
In addition to the road and sidewalk enhancements, the project encompasses crucial underground infrastructure improvements to our sanitary sewer, storm sewer, reclaimed water, and potable water systems. These upgrades will enhance the reliability and efficiency of our utilities and ensure more efficient transportation.
